OBSERVATION OF THE COLONY OF THE GALAXY VULTURES

We offer you observation of the vultures in their colony. Price: BGN 30 for the whole group. Duration - about one hour, suitable for small and large groups. For groups of up to 7 people, transport is organized (on site). The place is easily accessible by car. The service is provided all year round.

We drive to the colony of griffon vultures (about 5 minutes in one direction). The starting point can be the parking lot next to the "Eastern Rhodope" Nature Conservation Center (immediately next to the Arda River bridge) or the center of the town of Madzharovo.

The observation is carried out with a telescope and binoculars from one of the most beautiful places in Bulgaria. We have the opportunity to see griffon vultures up close, as well as many other species of birds of prey. Throughout the observation time, we conduct a lecture about the life of vultures and the inhabitants of the Kovan Kaya Natural Landmark. During the spring and summer months we see pairs of griffon vultures feeding their young.

11 species of birds of prey nest in the protected area: griffon vulture /Gyps fulvus/; Egyptian vulture /Neophron percnopterus/; black kestrel /Milvus migrans/; peregrine falcon /Falco peregrinus/; black-thorned kestrel /Falco tinnunculus/, large hawk /Accipiter gentilis/; small hawk /Accipiter nisus/; eagle viper /Circaetus gallicus/; common buzzard /Buteo buteo/; white-tailed buzzard /Buteo rufinus/ and little eagle /Hieraaetus pennatus/. We see most of them too, as well as many rock-loving warblers and other birds.
