The rafting boat tour starts every day at 9:30 a.m., from the parking lot near the Eastern Rhodope Nature Conservation Center, next to the Arda River bridge. The length of the route is 13 km, the descent takes about 2 hours. The total duration with on-site transport, briefing and breaks is about 4 hours.
This adventure is suitable for both experienced rafters and people who have never been on a raft. The route passes through some of the most beautiful places in Bulgaria with deposits of semi-precious stones, right next to the Protected Areas "Black Rock", "Momina Skala", "Kovan Kaya" and "Patronka". We start with some jeeping until we move to a wild beach near the village of Strandjevo. We unload the shelves and after a short briefing on the beach, we set off on the clear waters of Arda. Unlike rafting on the Struma River, where the degree of difficulty is 3-5 (ascending scale), here "rafting" is a strong word and the degree of difficulty is 1-2. Or to put it another way - we make a wonderful safe descent, with an increase in adrenaline in 3-4 places. In each shelf there is an instructor who, in addition to giving the commands for steering the boat, also "steers" the direction of the binoculars. The tour passes through breathtaking places, past four of the five protected areas of the Madjarovo volcano. We traverse lengthwise the kingdom of birds of prey, among rare minerals, with the guide's stories about the nature and history of the area. If you also like Kiro as a guide, prepare to fall off the shelf with laughter.
We leave Arda at the old baluster. The transport to Madjarovo will be waiting for us here.
Shortly before returning, we will also stop at the protected area "Kovan Kaya", where we will have a closer look at the nests of the griffon vultures with the binoculars.
If you decide to get involved, be sure to bring water and sunscreen. Depending on the season, prepare swimwear or warm clothes, as well as spare dry clothes. It is appropriate to take flip flops, rubber boots, rubber boots or shoes that get wet.
